This weekend in Atlanta with two 80+ degree days, it really felt like full-on Summer, not the early weeks of Spring. I got up Saturday morning and embarked on a three hour spring cleaning. It did not last all weekend, and three hours was just enough to make substantial progress on some essential projects. Here is what I accomplished:
- I got out my can of white trim paint and a throw away sponge brush. I touched up the trim in the house and painted the step between the garage and kitchen. When I was done, I just needed to throw out the brush and seal the lid on the paint can.
- I washed about 30% of the windows in my house. I washed both the inside and outside, early in the morning before the sun was too intense. There is a great article at Reader's Digest The Family Handyman on how to do this easily and efficiently. The picture above is from that article. I’ll tackle the rest of the windows over the next few weeks.
- I got out my Magic Eraser and wiped scuff marks off of the walls. This truly is a miracle product. In just a few minutes, your walls can look like new. If you are planning on selling your home, getting several boxes of Magic Erasers will allow you to easily detail your walls and avoid a re-paint project.
- I hired a friend to pressure wash my deck and front porch. It immediately brightened both areas.
